DFMXpress (Design for Manufacturing) in SOLIDWORKS
DFMXpress is an analysis tool that validates the manufacturability of SOLIDWORKS parts. Use DFMXpress to identify design areas that might cause problems in fabrication or increase production costs.
The below is the example how to use DFMXpress.
1. In the Evaluate tab select DFMxpress analysis wizard option.
2.Select the settings option as marked with red box.
3.Select Mill/Drill from manufacturing process option and click on click on Hole depth to diameter ratio below image gives information about diameter and depth ratio of hole.
4.The below image shows the rules for hole. if this values is not satisfied there will be an error.
5. Click on run.
6.As we can see in the image it is having sharp corners it is intimating us it is difficult to manufacture. we have to simplify the geometry.
7.As we can see in image the hole dept/diameter ratio and standard hole size is passed in DFM xpress.
